My Story
I have been doing art for as long as i remember. When I was younger I would always be doodling, sketching, and always wanting to show my mom everything. Through out grade school I went through a phase where I would be really into the animation style of Japanese anime and manga. I would constantly watch different types of anime and read various series of manga. I would then try to mimic the style. When trying to draw the avatars, this gave me a lot of practice with knowing how to proportion a persons' body, for the most part, correctly. Also in grade school was when I began to get introduced to famous artists in the past, such as Jackson Pollock, Frida Kahlo, Georgia O'keeffe, and many more, though a program they had called Art Smart. It definitely opened my eyes to all the different types of art that was out there. My favorite artist to try and replicate was Jackson Pollock, specifically his splatter paint pieces because there was so much freedom.
Once I came to high school, i was able to take my first actual art class. I kept growing fonder and fonder of art as i learned how to use color, shape, shades, and values to help my pieces come to life. As I continued to take art classes my junior and senior year, I experienced fun aspects of art as well as the challenging aspects of art. I would realize that art was more than just a picture or sculpture; it has meaning and behind every piece, there is a message. I make art because I enjoy it. I feel at peace and very calm. When I'm doing art work while listening to music, I lose myself and loose track of time. Sometimes I even use my art work to procrastinate my other homework. The sources of my ideas usually come from what I see around me. Something I find challenging at times is using my imagination. I am the kind of person who likes to be given guidelines and to be told what to do. If I'm given a lot of freedom for an art assignment or project, i'm sometimes clueless, but if I do come up with a good idea and I'm excited about it, I work with it and I make it into something to be proud of. I'm hoping that when people see my work, they're interested and like it. Even though my work may not perfect or completely outstanding, I'm happy with it, and i hope everyone else is too.
